I want a computer for DAW work and don't want internet...

Hey all, I just wanted to find out..

I want to build a pc for music production and I don't want to take it online, but I want to update all the drivers when needed.

Is there a way to download the drivers on a separate computer (with internet) and save them to a dvd/cd. Then install them on my DAW computer?

And if so, is there any threat of a virus or malware infecting the driver download?

You can always put drivers on a cd or usb flash drive and install it to another computer. That is how you receive motherboard drivers initially.

If you have a 3rd computer availible to you, it would be best to put the cd (or usb drive) in it and scan it for viruses.
If you get the driver from the OEM then there is almost no risk of the driver having a virus. The only risk comes if the machine you download it from and burn the cd from is infected and adds something to the cd.

One extra security measure you can take is to dissable autorun on the music computer. By doing this, even if the machine you downloaded the drivers from was infected and it added some scripts to the cd, it would not autorun the virus and fyi the virus has no way to add an infection to the driver files.
