If i want to buy a cheap but decent system is the a6 6400k good enough or should i go for a haswell pentium which has good review...i need a basic system for netflix gmail, some minor gaming..microcenter has a a6 6400k for 65 with mother board ..should i go for it or go intel.my main computer in my living room has an i7 2700k and a 650 ti so i can use that for more intensive stuff ..what about new kabini..just trying to get best bang for buck..thanks.. any suggestions appreciated.250 -400 budget......

way back in the day when dual cores were the cats meow i junked a good dual core for a quad core ( core2 duo days ). everybody told me I was nuts. dual cores are all you need.. blah, blah, blah. I hate dual cores. this day and age i would never touch one. not even for surfing. do they work, yes. but the way things are coded today and the way resources ( hardware ) are utilized by software.................

what kind of old scrap are you going to bring to the build? case power supply anything...???

for under 250 a year ago I got a 5800k/asrock board/8gigs of 2133/and an ssd............

The SSD is only 64GB. If you want to store photos or video or anything on this PC, it will fill up FAST. I can recommend a 500GB or a 1TB hard drive if you want that instead.

If you want Kaveri simply plug in this into the build instead of the AMD A6: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113360

That will give you significantly better CPU and GPU performance in that build, and it will only raise the price $100, making it a $360 dollar build. (Plus windows I guess) For your purposes, this will probably be overkill.

Hope that helps!

That's a very good build overall. Trying to match that with a custom built build at that price would be impossible. The graphics are better than the APU graphics in my build could give you, but maybe Kaveri could do a bit better.

The CPU is also significantly better than the A6 or the Kaveri A10. For your uses though, I would save a bit of cash and either find a cheaper Lenovo or other OEM build, or use my $260 AMD A6 build above. It all really depends on if you already have windows or not.

But for the price, Peter Anfindsen, this refurb PC above is awesome.
