I want to turn on a TIP35C transistor using outputs from a CD4017 IC

I have adapted a circuit for my own purpose. The current circuit shows a 4k7 resister connected to the base of a BC337 Transistor. I want to swap out the BC337 for a TIP35C. Will this work or do I need to change the 4k7 resistor or will I have to use a small transistor to turn on the TIP35? Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Greg.

Show complete circuit. Your explanation is like "I have a gadged kep with 1/4" bold, and want to replace it so I can use 1/2" bolt, what else I need".
