I want to buy a graphics card (cheap one) to upgrade graphic performance of my computer a little.

Solution

Your computer should run newer cards fine as long as you...

If you live in the US, 225 plus tax can get you a much better system.

What is considered cheap to you? How much are you looking at spending? you can get some decent cards right now that are 4gb or less for less then 150 dollars. I would also look at ebay there can be some good deals there with the older cards really cheap.

Another reason to consider a newer system is that the 2GB of RAM is EXTREMELY limiting. Getting new DDR2 RAM to add to it will be unreasonably expensive - getting used DDR2 may or may not be worth it.

But, again, it depends on your budget, and what games you're looking to play, or what sort of software you're using that you want a performance increase on.

I found 750ti from Ebay for 100$ and yes, it's good. Can my system run it?

And thank you for answering.

I found it on Ebay, for 160$. But Gt1030 exceeds my budget. Maybe i should wait 1-2 months and buy it? Does it make a big difference from 750ti and will my system run it?

Thank you for answering.

Thank you very much, but my budget is limited.

My budget is 100-120$. I searched on Ebay and found some cards. But i don't know will it increase computer's performance or will my system run it?

For example, i found GTX1060 DDR5 3GB for 80$. But i don't know will my system run it?

At first RAM was 1GB, then i upgraded it to 2 GB, bought used motherboard Asus P5QPL-AM (earlier was Asrock with Intel G31). All of this took from me 40$. Now i can use Windows 7, but 3D performance is bad as it was. I want to increase performance on 3D modelling programs. Like blender. When i start modelling, everything is great, but when it goes complex, everything is bad. Also it renders little animation for hours. And my budget for card is ~100$

Thank you very much for answering.

Your computer should run newer cards fine as long as you have the power supply connections (They may not preform as good as advertised due to limitations of your PCI-express) I had an old system was running a newer card just fine.
For example the newer cards are PCIe 3.0 and 3.1. Your computer most likely is PCIe 2.0. The cards are backwards compatibility like usb flash drives.
