[SOLVED] I want to upgrade my CPU to the latest CPU

I have an HP Envy model 750-467c, intel core i7-6700cpu @ 3.40GHZ, 3408 MHz, 4 core, 8 logical processor, bios AMI f.43, 6/28/2018, motherboard 828A version 1.01.

Officially the best you can get is an i7-6700K. (going by the supported processors list in https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05299969)

Otherwise you're going to have to basically build a new computer if you want the latest.

the system is already running a relatively competent 6700 variant...

(Unless , and even if, HP's support page specifically lists compatibility for a 6700K, it's possible the existing power delivery and or thermal solution would be inadequate for even that upgrade...; you can weigh the cost vice simply upgrading to a 10400/11400 or a B550/R5-5600X...which will likely need a new case, PSU, and RAM as well)
