Can I upgrade my computer's graphics card from a GT 610 to a GTX 750 Ti. As someone who doesn't know a lot about computer hardware, this is something I need help in. I am a PC gamer who mainly plays games such as Star Wars: The Old Republic, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, and The Elder Scrolls Online. I want to play games with higher end requirements and I need tips. I want to upgrade my computer's GPU from a GT 610 to a GTX 750 Ti. I do not know much about the GTX 750 Ti, I only know that it performs better. My computer is this one here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229412. I know it has a 350 PSU, I don't know the brand. My processor is definitely AMD FX-4300 Quad-Core Processor. Of course, my GPU is the GT 610. Now with the 350 watt supply, I looked up the consumption of both my current PCU and GPU and it seems to work fine with about 100-150 watts being free, but I don't know if other things in my computer use the PSU as well. I do know the upgrade from the GT 610 to GT 750 Ti is about 30-40 watts more. I just need to know if an upgrade is possible and smart to grab that GPU with my current PSU and PCU.

Anyways, here are the links to the graphics cards for quick access:

Thank you if you are here to help me. (Also I've never built or upgraded a computer so if there are headers I need to know, please say so. I am guessing since both GPUs are from the GT family, it would fit but blah I'm talking a lot now.)

I'm sure either card will fit, as they are not big cards....the msi looks bigger to me, it extendes beyond the top of the bracket where, as the EVGA one doesn't. Both are ok makes of cards, so get the one...

that 750 ti will work, it runs on the pcie slot power alone. They are very efficient.

huge upgrade over a 610.

As above, it will work in your computer. The 750Ti is a massive improvement.....I find it ironic that with a GT 610 they called it a gaming PC.

As for your concerns about fitting the card and anything you need to know. Not really, it's a very simple task. You simply open the side panel and remove whatever is restraining the bracket on your old graphics card, usually it's just a screw but some cases do use other locking mechanisms. The card is also held into the connection slot, so as you go to pull the card out there is a small lever on the end of the slot which you must push away from the card and down. Once removed, insert the new card into the slot, the locking lever will automatically lock. Secure the bracket, put the side panel back on, start your computer and install the driver software and you're done.

so should I wait until those release for 750 ti to drop? im not looking for the best card I just feel the 750 ti can fulfill my needs

So I see two options: the msi or evga version. My motherboard is gigabyte and I'm unsure if one would work better than the other. It looks like the EVGA version is a bit bulkier than the msi and seeing the space in my computer, I don't know which would fit best.

Edit: Here are the two I am seeing. http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=94306&promoid=1311 and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487025
As I am seeing my computer, it looks like I can move it down a panel or two, is that the case if it is bigger?

As for moving the card, no, it will have to go in the slot it came out of. Graphic cards are made for a certain type of slot (a PCIe x 16) and I doubt your computer has a 2nd one. Your other slots are probably PCIe x 1 and older PCI slots.

Ok this next bit is important, both those cards are what are known as 2 slot cards, that is their thickness takes up the space of 2 slots, yet they only plug into 1 slot. This means you will have to make sure the next slot down from your current card is empty, if something is there it will have to be shifted on another slot. Also, if there has never been anything in the next slot, then you will need to remove the panel on the back of your computer case which is directly below the current graphics card hole......this is important as the card vents hot air out this 2nd hole.
