For around $400, I would recomend looking at a 19" Trinitron, or a 17" LCD. Depends on how high you need the resolution to go, and how much space you have on your desktop.

I do not like it Tom you see,
I do not like green PCB.

I don't think it would be possible to find a nice 17 inch LCD for any where close to $400. I paid $660 for mine and that was with a student discount. If your lucky a nice 17 inch can be had for around $700-800. One suitable for games and anything high motion.
So like I said before, if your willing get the LCD, if you don't have the cash get a nice CRT.

The IBM 22" LCD you are reffering to costs anywhere between 10,000 and 15,000 depending upon where you get it. However, one doesn't need an LCD of that size, nor extremity. One can get an LCD for under $1000 that will look great. There are many great LCD's now that the technology is improving. Let me ask you this- from what distance can you read 5 point text on your CRT? How sharp is it? On my LCD, it's ultra sharp, and it feels as if the only limit is the eye.
