Hi, I recently (2 weeks ago) built my own custom PC
MSI z170a M9 ack
Corsair 64 GB Ram 2400 (video games and pre press work related)
intel 6700k running at stock mobo voltage Auto at 1.256
corsair 750 platinum
Zotac gtx 980 ti amp extreme Asic 78.9
samsung ssd 850 pro 1tb os
samsung 850 evo 250gb scratch disk
western digital 4tb black
cooler master haf x
win 10 pro
I have a few questions:
1 - once i built my PC i installed windows 10 pro, then proceeded to install all the chipset drivers and update as usual, i then proceeded to download some games and photoshop, illustrator, and indesign all worked fine
I then realized that in my bios the ram was running lower than advertised so i manually increased the speed after clear cmos just to be safe
I read online that after an overclock (i know its not much of an over clock) that you should re install fresh windows to which i did the entire procedure
I installed everything back as usual but then when i did a restart i got some fuzzy scanline type of horizontal lines across the screen during bios boot (not sure if this was attributed to the fact i also manually changed the time in bios according to my phone which was 5 minutes faster than OS)
this only happened once, so my question is, should i be worried? after a couple of restarts i realized i could not replicate the issue, at one point i shut down the pc but it took 2 or 3 minutes to completely shut down even though the screen went blank, again this only happened once
IS my graphics card dying or maybe mobo?
i ask as i still am under amazon warranty and if i can troubleshoot and exchange an item
2 - after installing illustrator I was greeted to a new Mercury engine, to which it only display the "Total VRam - 4095MB" as apposed to 6gb, is something wrong with graphics card? GPU Z shows full 6144MB, also Windows graphics adapter windows shows full dedicated amount PLUS 38888MB of shared VRAM??? whats that? its too much
can someone please help? am i being paranoid?
