I want to upgrade my CPU to increase the fps in modern games like Dying Light, BF4, Far Cry 4, and GTA V. Will the upgrade from a dual core to a quad core noticeably increase my fps or will I have to get a six core to see that? My GPU is a GTX 660 and I have 8GB of RAM.

Solution
No, there are practically zero games that need 6 cores (only advantage is broadcasting/streaming). So a i5 4690 is all you need and defiantly way better performance.

BTW...Sometimes you can find the K model for slightly cheaper than the non-K model, so look out for those too.

Neither....with a quad core you will be able to actually run games that require that cpu, like far cry 4, but i downt think you will any performance at all with that gpu. Your graphics card is the bottleneck, not your cpu. Change that first, but take a look at your psu first.
