i3 4170 + 750Ti VS i5 4460 (+ no gpu)

Solution

Would the GPU add speed to media use like youtube and netflix?
Would it also mean the work load was shared in comparison to just a cpu, making temps lower and ensuring a longer life span of components?

Yeah if she was gaming then i would have definitely said that you should get the 750ti because dedicated graphics is always the best but if she is just watching movies and some Photoshop work then stick with the i5 and use internal graphics if the motherboard supports it.

Another thing is that if all she is doing is watching movies and light video things like internet browsing, youtube etc with Photoshop then I would recommend just getting a HDD rather than a SSD , Yes a SSD it will generally make the system boot a little faster say 5-10 seconds faster and maybe make apps open ever so slightly quicker but if I were you I would get a HDD something like a WD Black 1TB 64Mb cache for £66 vs 240GB SSD for £54. :)

I'll get the HDD, does my Motherboard choice support the I5-4460's integrated graphics processor? if not then then what would you recommend for a similar price? Mini Itx/Matx please.

Yes the i5 4460 does support that motherboard and it does support the integrated graphics. I would like to point out that you have a 4440 on your pcpartspicker list not a 4460. They are both compatible though :)

Hope I helped 😀

I think the i3 is enough for what she is doing. You can add a gpu if you feel you need one, though the integrated graphics are plenty unless you are gaming. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

An i3 would be enough but id still stay with the i5 as it is good for future proofing i3 are duel cores but most i5's are quad cores.

Don't forget the pick a solution that you think has helped the most 😀

Skylake would be a good idea, thank you
