I3 6100 vs FX 8350??

After seeing benchmarks they perform the same, but with the I3 i need DDR4 at a way higher speed and lower voltage with better upgrade path, but im looking for upgrading to zen anyway so upgrade path dont matter. If i go with FX i will be keeping it for 1-2 years to wait for zen to settle down a bit, but if i got I3 i will still go zen and still keep it for around a year or 2 then upgrade, so if i am going zen will it be better to get the FX and use it for a year or two, then upgrade to zen with DDR4, or go FX? If i go FX i will get more ram, if i go I3 i will buy DDR4 ram. I currently got 8GB and i want 16GB on either or setup. (I been posting a lot about what CPU i get, sorry bout so many post's i just want to get the best for around the 130-150 price range on a CPU)

Solution
The i3 is cheaper than the 8350 both now and over the course of 2 years (electrical costs), even if you have to factor in buying new memory!

And for most games the i3 is equal to or faster than the 8350

Solution
Intel is going to release its new generation (Kaby Lake) still this year, Zen will come in the first lights of 2017, so you better hold a couple of months to see how things will turn. As much as we consumers need some competition I'm not holding my breath for Zen unfortunately, but I hope I'm wrong.

Well i need to get a CPU this month and then upgrade it in 2 years 3 max so thats why im looking for the best CPU in the 130-150 dollar range.

Well, given your urgency for an upgrade, I'd recommend you get an i3 with a good Z170 motherboard. The reason for that is that Z170 boards will be compatible with Kaby Lake via BIOS update, so you'll have to change only the processor when it comes out. Sorry the same does not apply for AMD.

Existing Skylake CPUs almost certainly have better per-core performance than Zen, and most games don't benefit from more than 4 hardware threads. Those that do, don't benefit from more than 6-8 hardware threads, meaning existing Skylake i7's will almost certainly be better gaming CPUs than Zen will be in a year's time.

Zen's place, if it lives up to expectations, will be in workstations and PCs used for productivity.

Thanks and unfortunately not.

I assume you're talking about gaming here, because productivity is a bit of a different story. But for gaming the i3 is generally pretty comparable to the 8350, sometimes a little faster. The biggest difference IMHO is the platform. Even a cheap Skylake mobo will give you plenty PCIe 3.0 lanes for future upgrades, NVMe support, USB 3 on a proper Intel controller (some of the 3rd party controllers on AM3+ and older Intel mobos are significantly slower), etc.

I don't think Kaby Lake is going to offer much of an upgrade, so little point waiting for that IMHO. I'd be very surprised if we say anything more than the 5-10% we've had for the last 4 product refreshes. We'll probably see native USB 3.1 Gen 2 support, but that's it in terms of features. Nothing wrong with buying now.

Seems like you are leaning on the FX 8350 right?

Im looking for gaming not Productivity and workstations.

Okay. And is there a better CPU that is 150 dollars for that price? (No higher)

The best you can get for 150 bucks is the i3-6300. In case you wanna have a look:

Somehow you managed to attribute that quote to the wrong person.

The Core i3 6100 is the best CPU for $100-150. Also, existing Intel CPUs are already better than Zen will be for gaming, so there's no use in waiting.

What FPS will the 6100 and a R9 380x mix give on Fallout 4, Black Ops 3, BeamNG drive, Minecraft, and CS:GO? I currently get a average of 32 FPS in a city on Fallout 4 on Ultra (Maxed), 84 In BO3 maxed Motion Blur off, 136 in Minecraft maxed with 8 seing distance, 90 on CS:GO all maxed out Motion Blur off, 34 on BeamNG drive maxed out.

I would if i didnt have to get more ram cause BO3 now says to much ram usage and crashes my PC. I do have 1GB and a 2GB DDR3 Kingston Module but i have 2 4GB Kingston HyperX Fury modules atm.

Im buying on newegg and things sold and shipped by newegg i dont want used or anything either and my max budget is 250 on the MOBO CPU and 16GB DDR4 ram for Skylake and 8 extra GB DDR3 of Kingston HyperX if i go haswell.
