i3 8100 for csgo

Can I play csgo with i3 8100 and gtx 1060 6gb on 144hz monitor? Or I have to go with i5 8400 and 1050 ti?
also, i can go with older intel's generations if you can recommend me some.
I saw ryzen isnt that good in gaming, like intel, espesially in csgo.

I’m fairly sure cs go cannot use more than 4 cores/threads and most of the load sits on 2. As the 8400 turbo’s up to about the same speed as the 8100 I would expect them to perform very similar.

Cs go is more dependent on single core performance, for the best single core performance you would go with an overclocking cpu but either of the cpu’s you mentioned will be plenty good enough.

Personally I would pick the i5 8400 as it will be better for modern and future AAA games where quad cores are showing their limitations already.

I5 8400 with 16gb ram and 1060 6gb.= every game with high settings at 60FPS.
I5 is beast

Agree for most games but cs go is unusual. Cs go doesn’t need much gpu power, a 1050Ti is more than enough. Cs go is very cpu core speed bound.

Yeah if you're playing pubg i5 and 1050ti will be fine with medium settings
