I3 vs any amd cpu

Which cpu would be the best for bf4? An i3 or any amd cpu? Please don't be an amd/intel fanboy. I was going to get an i5 6500 before I realized I need a new copy of windows. 🙁 I would think amd would win here since the 2 cores would'nt beat the 8 cores in a game where cpu matters like bf4. Please tell me your thoughts and remember not to be biased. I also don't care about benchmarks and only bf4.

BF4 specifically? I bet the 6300 or any of the piledriver 83XX would take an i3 no problem, the frostbite engine is mulithreaded well. In many other games the i3 will pull ahead due to it much better single thread performance.

Lol. Well same answer. I will add that I dont really recommend you buy a 5 year old amd platform in 2016 if you ever plan to upgrade. With something like the i3 6100 you will be on a modern intel platform with plenty of upgrade paths. 2 cores are not too weak for bf4, core for core that i3 destroys any amd cpu. An i3 will play bf4 well enough for it to be worth going with the i3 over an amd chip in my opinion.

In some games, FX CPUs can edge out an i3. In others, the i3 stops FX CPUs.

FX are just not good choices for gaming.
