i3 vs i5?

Hi I am trying to build a gaming pc but confused whether to go with i5 or i3.I'll be using my pc for gaming and light video editing.For the i3 I have slected
cpu - i3 6100
motherboard - asrock z170 pro 4
ram - corsair vengeance 4x2 gb ddr4
gpu - amd r9 270 2gb or asus gtx 960 2gb
SSD - sandisk 120 gb
HDD - 320 gb wd
psu - seasonic S12LL
and for the i5
i5 4460
asus b85m g
gskill ripjaws 2x4gb ddr3
asus gtx 960
If I go with i3 its inside my budget but if go with i5 I have to sacrifice other things.So which one should I go for

the i5 build will be better. a 960 is better and more expensive than a 270x

Would the i5 and R9 380 be within your budget? That would be the best-balanced combination.

I too want to go with i5 but then my budget won't allow me to buy other things but if I go with the i3 I could focus on other things in my budget.So what do you say should I go with i5 and get performance but sacrifice other things or i3 ?

for gaming the i5 and 960 will kill the i3 and for editing it will do the same the i5 is the better choice

actually I don't have enough money for an i5 so I am going with i3 now and will upgrade later to i5.By the way how much fps would I be getting from the i3 build?

on most games plenty. their are only a few a i3 will struggle on
