Hello everyone!
I'm searching for a "new" used laptop in the range of 450€ ( not a big budget ) to change my current laptop bought used like 5 years ago, a HP Pavilion 15 with an i7-6700HQ, GTX 950M 2GB GDDR5, 8 GB DDR4 RAM, 15.6 FHD 60HZ IPS.
Maybe I'll have the chance to buy one of these two laptops for around 450€ or a bit less, the i5-10300H+GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 (with a 512GB NVMe SSD) is a Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3i and the i7-7700HQ+GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 (with a 250GB SSD) is an Asus ROG Strix GL703VM.
Both of them have 16GB of Ram and 120Hz display.

Between the two, considering the performance, temperatures, fan noise, screen quality etc, which one should I get? I'll use them mainly to game, more in a competitive way, so not really searching for Ultra settings (PUBG, Rocket League, Halo MCC and Infinite, MGSV, Death Stranding and some others. I know they are not really powerful machines so I'll not be able to run games like Cyberpunk 2077 in FHD Ultra at 60FPS, but I'm okay with that, because I never played games in High and I've no problem lowering the graphic to reach 60FPS). I'm not planning to sell the laptop in future, so I don't care about the brand that will be more future proof for selling purpose.
Another thing is that I prefer for example having 10fps less but with good thermals and fan noise, instead of having 10fps more but bad thermals and fan noise.

So, for 450€ max, will it be a good deal, and if yes, which one should I get? I'm more oriented on the Lenovo because I had the chance to see it in a store a while ago, and was not bad, keyboard felt nice, touchpad was better than the one I've in my HP, and the screen bezel was really thin compared to my current laptop, basically having the same screen size, but in a small factor laptop. My only concern right now is the GPU, I know that the GTX 1060 is better compared to the GTX 1650, but by how much? And what about CPU, having a 10th with a GTX 1650, can compensate the GTX 1060 having a 7th generation?

Thank you to everyone!

I see no reason to not get the newer hardware here. 3 generations on the CPU is quite a lot. Mostly in clock speed and not really increased efficiency, but it is still decent.

Only argument against the newer one would be the 4GB of VRAM vs the 6GB. But considering you are still doubling the VRAM, it will last a while longer. You are looking at about a 10-20% difference in performance between them in favor of the 1060.

However, you also have to factor in cooling and efficiency. The 1650 is going to run cooler so that is a point towards it. How much power they let the 1060 consume vs the 1650 is going to be a bigger factor in performance. Sadly those numbers are not usually posted.

1650 is listed as an up to 50W chip. The 1060 is listed as being up to an 80W chip.

i5-10300H and i7-7700HQ are 35-45W so 95W vs 125W total. Take a look at the power brick these laptops have. If they aren't as powerful as the maximum consumption the battery will be drained while gaming.

The Lenovo if I'm not wrong should have a 135W power brick and the Asus a 180W, so no problem with the battery.
Anyway so I should get the Lenovo, because I'll get a newer hardware, especially for the CPU that should give me a little bit of better performance in everyday use, and also if I'll have a worst GPU, I'll get a cooler and quieter system.
About the price instead? Will it be a good deal for 450€ max?
Thank you!

Not a bad deal in my mind, but not really sure what the used prices should be. Laptops weren't as bad as desktops during the GPU shortage (except the high end ones that actually were used for mining) Nothing remotely priced like that in the US, though you can get some brand new stuff around $600 (older 11th gen hardware with discrete graphics) Making room for 12th gen stock I presume.

Sadly where I am from if you want to get a new Laptop with a discrete graphic card (talking about GTX), you have to spend at least 800-900€ (850$-950$). For example a new Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3i with the same specs of the used one I've written (i5-11300H instead of the 10300H) you have to spend 1000-1100€.
With 600€ here you can get a new laptop that has like a Ryzen U and no dedicated graphic. Even one with a MX 330 cost like 800€.

This is the reason I go with an used one, but I'm okay with that, bought the HP used 5 years ago, and worked with no problem ^^
