I currently run the i5-2400 rig with a sapphire nitro 380 and still be able to run most AAA games at decent rates, but this rig is almost 5 years old. My question would be is it worth the upgrade to i5-7600k, the upgrade would also entail changing the PSU (already 5 years old - coolermaster watts) and a Asus B51 motherboard (i think) and of course replacing the DDR3 memory on it.

Solution
Go for it there is a gap of 4 generations ur i5 2400 is of 2nd gen and i5 7600k is of 7th gen with cores unlocked
U can oc it
Correction- the motherboard is asus b150 pro gaming
Asus b51 is a laptop

What he did not tell you that most B150 requires BIOS Updates in order to have the 7th Gen CPU to work.
You must use a 6th Gen CPU to update if you going using B150

or avoid the frustrations just get the B250 Motherboards (although kinda of pointless to buy a 7600K if you buying a motherboard that can`t overclock.
