Hey guys, rarely ever post here but I was wondering which one should I pick if I want to game or maybe do some multi task orientated stuff (like streaming or SOME photoshop). Right now I'm just rocking with an i3-2100 and it's done me well but I might want to upgrade soon. My rig is basically at the moment a i3-2100, 8GB Ram, and a GTX 660. My motherboard is this for reference http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188098 .

I was thinking about just doing a full build into skylake, but after hearing from friends and seeing benchmarks tests I think I'd rather save money and just get a more powerful sandy bridge. What do you guys say? Also rocking 2 Monitors if this helps any.

For gaming, they are identical. Most games don't utilize hyper threading that well, and hyper threading is only about a 30% performance boost. No where near as good as a real core. If you plan to OC and you mainly game, the OC'ed i5-2500K may out perform the stock i7-2600. But multithreaded apps will benefit from the hyperthreaded cores of the i7. It's basically a decision only you can make.

For gaming, Tom's Hdwr. ranks them both in the same tier (at stock): http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cpu-hierarchy,4312.html
On paper (at stock), they are nearly identical: http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-2600-vs-Intel-Core-i5-2500K/620vs619
For multi threaded apps the i7 is a bit better...
I'd go for the i7-2600. If you were mainly a gamer, you may want to go with the i5-2500k and enjoy the OC'ing boost. But since you use other multi-threaded apps like Photoshop, the hyper threaded i7 would be better. And you won't loose anything in gaming.

I see, I mean I do mostly game... I game at least 80% of the time however I do want to use other programs from time to time; I imagine the i7 is the better pick for me considering I might even stream a couple times as well. Does the i5-2500k still beat it in that regard?

(the 2600k listed is the same as the 2600 if not OC'ed)
