i5-2500k vs i7-4770k for handbrake & power saving - worth it?

I currently have a i5-2500k and use handbrake to do video encoding of my blu-ray collection. Will the i7-4770k be much faster (about how much faster?). Will I notice a power savings when the computer is idle (e.g. on my electric bill) - because I use the computer as my media server too and most of the time its on but not doing anything.

Almost all modern day CPUs consume about the same enegry in idle. The i7 wll be faster for what you do, but if thats all you do, why dont you consider the AMD FX-8350? It is much, much cheaper and performs quite strongly and nearly on par with the i7 in video encoding.
