So I will be getting an I5-3570k cpu soon and was curious what kind of cooler upgrade I want. I currently have the stock one with no fan or wires attached at all but I dont know how to check for compatibility with the now ones I find online
hp compaq 6200 pro sff
1497 motherboard
cpu is lga 1155. Would any lga 1155 cooler fit it? and do i need a place to plug it in?

Coolers generally need to be plugged into something if they have a fan.

Spec sheet above says its a small form factor, i guess nearly 10 years old.

Only 4 inches in its narrowest dimension, so you'll be severely limited in cooler upgrades.

Above shows the inside and the owner's upgrade attempts including benchmarking.

I'd be hesitant to spend money on it.

Are you sure you need to change coolers at all?

I honestly dont know, I dont know tons about what upgrades are necessary for a new cpu and what not. If my current cooler will work then thatd be even better

Most likely the stock rear fan is plugged into the maroon colored fan header on the bottom left of the pic above. I see another maroon colored fan header on the top right under the "U" of the watermark. Not sure if anything is plugged into that.

TBH, I'd just leave the stock cooler on. Not worth spending money.

Compaq 6200 Pro SFF 1497 Motherboard CPU is LGA 1155. You can use any LGA 1155 cooler. You just need to make sure that the cooler is compatible and can be plugged into the motherboard. You can go to your motherboard manufacturer's website and look at the motherboard specification to find a compatible cooler for your motherboard.
