i5-3570k Only Turbo 3.6Ghz?

Hello! So I recently bought an i5-3570k and a motherboard and so far I've loved the upgrade. But while looking up the i5-3570k and researching a little about it, I read the turbo should be 3.8Ghz. I only get a MAX of 3.6, I did multiple tests with Prime95, I've streamed and played DayZ to try to get a more realistic test for myself too.

Run Prime95 on a single core and it should turbo to 3.8 GHz, etc. It won't turbo on 4 cores.

Systems may throttle overclocking due to power supply problems or simply because you don't need it to be that high.The only game my CPU turbo's to it's max (3.6) is on on evolve because it's so heavy.

I left to take a shower and I came back to this, also I am running it on one core right now and it's slightly higher, maxing out at 3.67Ghz. I'll let it run for a few more minutes.

It will turbo to 3.80 GHz only when all conditions are met. Most of the time more than one core will be active; 3.67 is normal when 2 cores are active.

Alright thanks, I just wish you could force it to go 3.8Ghz, I have a pretty cheap motherboard that isn't capable of oveclocking. Either way it was an upgrade from my old Athlon. Thanks again!

Depending on the motherboard you may be able to force it to always run at 3.8 GHz, but then it will draw more power and run hotter.

I'll look in the bios for that, thanks. I literally picked this up for $20, it had a return policy so I thought why not. It's a miracle it works.
