i currently have the i5 4440 people say that i can get better gaming performance with the i5 4670k is it really worth the upgrade? for the long run is it a better choice?

We all would expect, because they are keeping the LGA 1150 socket, but it looks like they will break compatibility, so you will need a new motherboard when Broadwell comes at the end of this year.

Still, don't waste your time going from the i5-4400 to the 4670K. Save up and get an e3 1230v3, or an i7.

i use ssd's (i bought my 2nd one recently), and i will never go back to mechanical drives for my OS (and favorite games), not unless they match or beat the ssd. It may "just" be loading time, but it's worth it, and things get snappy too.
i play bf4, and im one of the first guys to load the game, i'm already capturing a flag before my friends get in.

if you dont want an ssd, how about a mechanical keyboard? or a good mouse

Okay to answer your question, go with the Xeon E3-1230v3 if you want to upgrade, otherwise stay with what you have.
