Hi All,

Currently own an i5 Rig with the following specs:

CPU: Intel i5 4460 (with CM Hyper 212x)
MOBO: Gigabyte Z97x-Gaming 3
RAM: Ripjaws-x CL9 1600 - 8gb (dual channel)
SSD: Samsung Evo 128gb
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM 1TB
PSU: Season s12II-620
GPU: On Board Graphics Intel HD 4600 :pt1cable:
Monitor: VX239H Asus (up to 1920x1080)

Currently, I have gained interest in vLogging using GoPro, Osmo and Sony A6000 which requires me to perform some video editing/rendering using Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015. I usually shoot at 1920x1080 or 2.7k.

However, with the current rig that I have, i am having a hard time with the following:
- During assembly of video clips and/or adding transitions/effects and playback - Lagging issues. Also, when applying effects, and when Adobe analyzes (e.g. applying warp stabilization), RAM is at 90-95%.
- When exporting using maximum depth and at least 8mb bitrate (Full HD) and 16mb bitrate (2.7k), a 3min video clip takes at least 2hrs to complete and during exporting process, the CPU is at least 70-80% and RAM is at 80%.

Considering I will not upgrade to 5th or 6th Gen processors and would like to retain my current MOBO, what part of my current setup will i need to upgrade? Will buying a dedicated GPU without upgrading my processor give a significant increase in performance? I saw some posts that a cheap GTX 750TI will do the job. Please correct me or enlighten me on this one.

Thank you!

Your board will probably support 5th gen CPUs, but a 4790K and some extra RAM will probably achieve what you're looking for. You might try a 750Ti too.

Thanks Ecky. I'm just confused a bit, but does this mean that video editing requires a more powerful CPU rather than GPU because i know that 750ti is quite old right now?

Will an i7 4790k with 16GB RAM plus GTX 750TI handle the FullHD and 2.7k editing/rendering with ease? How about 4k?
