Title says it all, I'm looking for an upgrade in terms of my pc and I have around £120-£140 to spend, any more ideas feel free to post :)

If I had to choose between those two rigs, I'd go for the i5. The graphics card is a little weaker initially, but the CPU is so much stronger that it would be a much more future-resistant system; a future graphics card upgrade would cure any immediate deficiency. IMHO, most if not all games will run on "enjoyable" settings (mix of medium and high) with a R7 260X.

Hi basically the AMD parts in the title is what my pc use to have in it about 3 months ago and I'm so happy I upgraded. For gaming the Athlon is not a good CPU really its very old now, its okay on last gen but it will not handle current gen. It would probably collapse from all the tasks the games demand nowadays.

I had a r9 270 and it could just handle Skyrim maxed...Just.

My now upgraded computer specs ( I upgraded the MOBO, CPU and GPU)
-i5 4460 3.20GHz
-MSI GTX 970 4GB
-Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz 2x4GB Dual Channel 8GB kit
-1920x1080 LG monitor
-500w Corsair CX Bronze
-1TB WCD Hard drive
-ASRock Z97 Anniversary Motherboard
-Windows 7 Ultimate

I upgraded my CPU first so I but the r9 270 back in and it did better in some games but it was a mid range card so I upgraded to a MSI GTX 970 after a month and I have never looked back.

Upgrade to the i5, you'll need a socket 1150 board.

Then save up for a high end graphics card.

Hope this helps.
