i5 4590 vs FX 8320 debate.

Building for a friend.
-He is NOT looking to overclock. I understand the i5 is locked and the FX is unlocked. However, the price difference is a large factor to consider.
-Looking for a good CPU for gaming/movies/web browsing to accompany a 970 or a 390.
-Not fussed about temps/wattage differences.

Which CPU benches better with games and is better price performance??

In terms of performance? The i5 is a much better CPU for pretty much everything.

The FX 8320 is cheaper but you are dropping performance for price.

If I had to choose, I would go for the i5. Better performance overall.

i5 hand-down is the winner. I3 trades blows with a 8320 and usually wins.

Overclocked to 4 GHz the FX 8320is the winner.
What you save on the processor lets you improve performance in gaming because you can afford a better graphics card.

Without overclocking the Intel is a better choice
