i5 4670 V FX-8320 for Virtualization

Hi,

I am looking at building a machine that will run two virtual machines, be used for programming and running eclipse (android emulator). I already have a 550Watt PSU, mini ATX case, drives etc. All I need is a CPU (+Cooler maybe?), Motherboard and Ram.

I can't decide on either an i5 4670 or an FX-8320, I like the AMD that it has more cores but have been told I won't benefit anymore from more cores compared to the i5's faster cores. Would appreciate all opinions (even different cpu's).

Budget is $400 USD (I am in Australia).

I would go for the 8320. Having 8 Integer cores is very nice for running VMs.

For only 2 VM's a 4670 would outperform a fx 8xxx.
Intel 4670 have TSX extension most virtualization software should support.
