Hi everyone this is my first post and I would like a couple answers on some things for a new build that I have been needing for sometime now.

im upgrading from a 5 year old e6550 core 2 duo to my new build here:

i5 4670k
2x r9 270x
asrock z87 killer
16gb of gskill 2133
700w nzxt 80+ bronze psu

so my first question is whether the board will let me overclock to 4.6ghz and my second is if i should run a kraken x60 watercooler or an nzxt havik 140 air cooler

Solution
a)1 larger GPU is better than 2
b)used is not bad
I like the Biostar Hi-Fi z87x 3d, it definitely is overclocking capable :)
Link to RAM you plan on getting? 8GB is enough..
I'm thinking that big air cooler would do better than h60
I'd step the GPU power up a notch..I know the 280x prices are insane right because of "miners"
Maybe see if you can find a good used 7950 or something.
well what is your budget.watercooler is good. in my opinion get corsair h55.i would also recomment on going for asus motherboard maximus VI or V.waiting for your budget then i will tell you some more things

not wanting to spend over $1000 on the whole thing monitor included where im at atm is $1036 and im fine with that im getting them piece by piece trying to spend around 200 every week until i have everything. (the extra r9 is coming down the road after i have it running already)
my cooling is not being included in my budget the budget is just on my hardware and monitor and case.

well its how much i wanted to spend i don't have the money in a lump some which is why im getting piece by piece but i can live with being 36$ over my initial limit, and did not plan on including cooling and the second card into the budget
but yes $1000 is the budget

and i was also curious as to how well those cards will crossfire with this build

well if you have $1000 for pc and MONITOR you shouldn' t be going with i5 4670 k. you should build this:

Add a cpu cooler and this is a beastly gaming machine..don't forget to pick as a best answer:) . i will be happy to answer more questions anytime
Oh yeah !! add a excellent monitor, keyboard and mouse.. :)

im dead set on the build i made and am willing to spend the extra $60 to get an asus board i prefer them but picked the asrock to save some money the only amd processor i messed around with was the 8350 and with the builds that i made i figured i might as well just go with the intel if you think i should swap to the asus i might but really only wanted to see if 4.6 was achievable i would go lower than that if not anything over a 4.0 oc i would be happy with

Those are single-sided Hynix..I don't like.
I would either get some used RAM..
or 8GB new modules..
or these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148560
Most RAM is warrantied for life from manufacturer. G.Skill especially, others as well

i have no clue what that is but is there g skill that isn't single-sided Hynix either in 1866 or 2133? i opted to the 2133 in those ripjaws because the 1866 was the same price so i figured why not go for the higher speed and better timings im very loyal to gskill
ahhh i looked it up i see so those 2 sticks are not getting the performance they should at the frequency

no one really did answer my question lol all i wanted to know was if the board will support me taking the processor to 4.6 and if the cards were ok to be crossfired with this setup lol

the only question that got answered was the cooling

4.6 is pushing the upper-end temp limits with Haswell..4.6+ IS achievable with a cool-running chip.

I had a 4.7 profile..That was pretty much the limit with the one i had.
