i5 4690k or evga gtx 970 ftw????

i have a i7 920 😀 oc 3,65ghz ... i games like rust cs go and gta V my pc crashes couse my cpu gets to hot ... in other games no problem... so not that big of a deal. i have a r9 280x asus .
In april i can get a new gpu or cpu for my birthday .... but which one shall i get ..... couse i dont realy care about not being able to play cs go and rust... but will my preformace go up if i buy a new cpu... or is it better to get a gtx 970

Your i7 920 will bottleneck the GTX 970 in some games. I think that your best first upgrade is to go for the i5 4690K upgrade first and down the road upgrade your GPU. The R9 280X is still a good GPU for running games for awhile.

I agree, upgrade to 4690k/6600k now and get a good GPU later. The first gen Intel CPUs are pretty outdated now.

Agreeing, your cpu is a bottleneck. Get the 4690k

GTA V will probably get a boost yeah. CPU only affects CPU-intensive games, so CSGO for example won't have different performance.
