hello i recently bought gtx 1080 im using with 4690k.Most of the games im not seeing any bottleneck which is surprising for me i thought cpu heavily bottleneck the 1080.I ordered new 1440p monitor and i was thinking should i upgrade my cpu ? only choice i have is 4790k i cant really spend too much.If i go for the 4790k i dont need to change the motherboard or rams. For example im not happy with the pubg performance fps is between 50-150 fps constantly changing so are the gpu usage. And with the new monitor it will be much worse

considering the price of a 4790K right now, I would get an I5-8400/B360/8GB ram for the same price

if your FPS is going up and down something is either overheating or bottlenecking.. have you run HWINFO and run it in Sensor mode while gaming and then when you experience the fps drops, look at the cpu/gpu temps and usage %. if CPU at 100% and video card <50% then your cpu is bottlenecking

no most of the times gpu running at %100 if not its really close so bottleneck is slim tempatures are fine cpu running at 4.4ghz.ıts just pubg both cpu and gpu usages dropping %50 for a second.

The jump from I5 4690k to I7 4790k or anything below 8600k will not bring much.
Even the 8600k is not really worth the price in my opinion, if you are already on I5 4690k.
Moving from 1080p to 1440p will give more load on the GPU, not on CPU.
Give your PC one more year and look again on the new coming stuffs :)

PUBG is not well optimized.
PUBG is the issue, not your PC.
