i5 4690K vs i7 4790K in the long run?

Hi all,

I'm building a gaming/editing rig soon and I plan to use it for the next 5 years. I initially had my heart set on the i7, but a lot of people are say the i5 is sufficient. I want to get decent results in 1440p in gaming, and run dual graphics cards in SLI. I have also heard of the new skylake architecture, should I just wait for that as most people say it will yield better results.

Skylake will be a bit better than haswell. Haswell was a bit better than Ivy bridge. Nothing earth shattering though.
