Moving to the i7 860 gets you another 2 cores and 4 threads, but does knock down your clockspeed a little bit. It will be faster and you would see an improvement in Battlefield 4. Less heavily threaded titles might be a bit slower unless you're willing to overclock.
In any case, I would recommend saving up some more money and getting a new CPU and motherboard. The first gen i5s and i7s are starting to have trouble keeping up with the latest games, even with overclocks. If you can get a Lynnfield i7 for really cheap and use it to tide you over for a while longer, then do that, but don't spend 200-300 dollars or whatever retail is on one, it's not worth it.
