In bf1 my gpu usage is only at 45 percent while cpu is always at 100 percent. Fps is fine when I tweak settings on all configuration. I have 8 gb of ram as well. I was wondering why the game is always so stuttery and choppy when fps is fine. Thx for the help

Solution
I would still, for giggles, replace the psu first. But, almost a guarantee you’ll need a new cpu/mobo and 16 total gb ram is a good idea.

100% cpu means it’s working as hard as it can to set up frames for the gpu to render and the gpu is only at 50% because the cpu is setting up at half the pace the gpu can render.

I tried cranking the settings up and the gpu usage did go up but fps was still only 50 to 60 with a 1070, doesnt seem right. Would an i5 8600k upgrade help with that.

Ok so I have an asrock h110m hdv mobo, 8 gb ddr4 vengence ram, cx430 watt psu, hyper 212 evo cpu cooler, gtx 1070 8gb oc strix gpu, and an i5 6500 cpu. It is mainly in bf1 and i am at 1080p at 60hz. THx for the help

Wow - definitely not good as I was getting 75 fps or more @1440p/high in BF1 with a 3570k and 1070.

The very first thing I would do is get a better psu. That one is undersized and a very basic unit. No guarantee it will change anything but needs to be done no matter what you buy. Recommend a 550 or 650w seasonic focus plus gold or evga g2/3.

Do you have the latest drivers for motherboard and gpu?

Edit: What are temps like under gaming load (can use OCCT or msi afterburner to monitor).

Yeah I am about to buy a new case and at least a 650 watt psu..that is next on my list ;)
All my drivers are up to date and I made sure to use ddu and then reinstall gpu drivers as well.
I have device manager, I will look at temps of cpu and gpu in a bit.

K I have the results so the CPU only got to 46 Celsius and the GPU got to 60 Celsius. My memory was at 7 of 8 gig 88% usage and my gpu only ever reached 60%usage then dropped back to around 50 ish% usage while cpu was still at 100%. This is on 1080p 100% screen resolution on ultra settings bf1

That's a good bet. I was looking at that but went with 8700k to try and stretch the useful life out a bit. When I bought my quad core I said "I'll never need more than four cores" aaaaand I was wrong. So I thought of getting the 8600k and thought "I'll never need more than six co... hey, wait a minute!" So 6c/12t it was. Still, if the budget more aligns with the 8600k then rock it for a good 5-6 years, especially with a decent overclock.
