Hey everyone, I’m thinking about upgrading my PC/ finding my chokehold with this build and wanted to get some recommendations! Here are my current specs:

  • CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X
  • GPU: Gigabyte Gaming RTX 3070 8GB
  • Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming II WiFi
  • RAM: 32GB G.Skill 4000MHz
  • Storage: 500GB M.2 (Boot) + 1TB HDD
I mainly use my PC for gaming, video editing. and want to maximize performance for steam games/ adobe Premiere.

what upgrade would make the biggest impact? Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Do you have a budget?
Your system seems relatively well balanced.

I might consider changing out the HDD for a SSD. 1 or 2tb ssd drives are relatively reasonable.
Repurpose the HDD as external backup.

For gaming, run this test:
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

You can upgrade the cpu to a 5 series processor on your current motherboard.

What is the make/model of your psu?
That might limit any graphics upgrade.
