So currently i have a Skylake Intel Core i5 6500 @ 3.20GHz, currently running with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070, i am currently wanting to upgrade my CPU but for now i am wondering if it will be ok to Overclock the 6500 and is it worth it? my idle temperatures atm in my PC is this
http://prntscr.com/u2xvgi

I was also wondering what would be a good CPU upgrade that wouldnt bottleneck with an 1070 for a G1.SNIPER B7-CF (U3E1) Motherboard? without having to change the motherboard,

Thank you.

Solution
Some limited BCLK options exist with appropriate motherboards/BIOS revisions, but with a B150 I think you're going to be stuck at stock.

In terms of an upgrade, you're really only looking at either an i7-6700/K or 7700/K, and those tend to be really expensive on the used market, relatively speaking (~$100 or more)

What would you recommend in my situation regarding CPU upgrading, and can my motherboard even do K series

6700/K or 7700/K in the strictest sense of an 'upgrade'.
Yes, your board supposed the K chips, but not the overclocking component.

Being realistic though, at $100+ for one of those CPUs, it's not a great solution. I'd probably keep using what you have for now, then look to upgrade the CPU/MB/RAM in time..... Ryzen5 3600, B450 or 550, 2x8GB 3200MHz could be done for ~$300, then sell the i5/B150/RAM as a combo. Net spend probably be around ~$200, for a worthwhile upgrade.

If you already have 3200Mhz , then yes, you could reuse the RAM - I had just assumed you were running something more typical for a 6500 + B150, like 2133-2400MHz.

Being realistic, you could sell your CPU/MB for probably $100-$150, according to recent eBay completed auctions. https://www.ebay.com/sch/131511/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=i5-6500&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1

Then look to something like this:

You could go B450 with a confirmed BIOS update, or even drop to an older R5 (1600AF, 2600), but the 3000 series brings decent IPC improvements to make it a very worthwhile upgrade.

Would changing to an AMD CPU with Nvidia GPU be an issue? would that new motherboard allow for i7 8 series also? also is the r5 ryzen a good choice to pair with a 1070 with a performance increase and no bottleneck compared to my i5 6500?
