Hey, i'm REALLY new to overclocking and I need some help,

I've been trying to overclock the i5 6500 on the GA-Z170-HD3P.

I've found some tutorials but I guess I was too stupid too follow them, the problem is that I can set the base clock to 101, but whenever I set it higher I get a boot failed error.

How can I fix that?

//edit I have a R9 380x XFX 990MHz
and 8GB Crucial 2133mhz DDR4 (1x8GB)

Yep, you can still overclock them. The thing is that the only way of doing that is by changing the BCLK of the CPU. That means altering the frequency the silicon cristal is vibrating. That involves more dangers than changing the multiplier. I would not recommend you to do that unless you really know what you are doing.

But I heard that they are still able to get overclocked, especially on the gigabyte motherboards?
