[SOLVED] i5-6600k 3.5 replacement

Hi, could someone please help me pick a good alternative to my i5-6600k 3.5Gh

im running it on a MSI Z170A PRO motherboard with a regular fan cooler 16 rams and a regular 1080

The processor, as shown in task manager, runs at 100% in many games i play but never had a real problem until i ran Anthem, which take 100% of my CPU in all settings variants

i7-6700(K) or i7-7700(K) would be the only steps 'up' from a 6600K that are compatible with your motherboard - you may have to update the BIOS to support a 7700/K though.

if i can bother you with another question, if i decide, given my short range of options, to upgrade my motherboard too what would you recommend

For strictly gaming, Intel has the edge. A Z370 (+ 8th Gen CPU) or Z390 (+9th Gen), or locked H or B variants, depending on the CPU.

Might be worth considering a Ryzen option too - from a value perspective, you'll net more cores & threads for substantially less money than the comparably spec'd Intel options. Slightly lower IPC though, so not quite as good on a gaming front.
