You could upgrade to a i7 6700, but you would have to look on the used market and it will cost $200+, which is above the cost of a new cpu and board. So I'd suggest just changing platforms to either amd am4 or intel lga 1200.I have an i5 6600k and an gtx 1070 FE. I have some saved money, what i should upgrade? Thank you !

What is your psu model and your ram+ram speed?
You'll need a z490 board, any will be fine except the asrock phantom or pro 4 and the gigabyte UD, those overheat like mad. Yes, you'll definitely need new ram.I was looking for an i7 10700k. The ram speed is 2133, i think i will need to buy some new ram too
I dont exactly know the psu model because my first gaming pc was an alienware aurora r5 and i got the psu from there. The psu has 850W.You'll need a z490 board, any will be fine except the asrock phantom or pro 4 and the gigabyte UD, those overheat like mad. Yes, you'll definitely need new ram.
What's your psu?
You can hold on your current setup and wait for new amd chips if you care. Though the 10700k is a very nice chip already.
Alright, it's a modern delta psu, should be alright.I dont exactly know the psu model because my first gaming pc was an alienware aurora r5 and i got the psu from there. The psu has 850W.

Did your r5 come with the liquid cooler, if so, you may be able to re-use that as well.
yesThat Alienware, it was from about 2018? If so, that PSU should be just fine. Dell's PSUs have been pretty solid for the last several years.
What about an ryzen 7 3800X?Alright, it's a modern delta psu, should be alright.

The 10700k is faster by a very slight margin, maybe ~3fps with a gtx 1070. But the am4 mount won't fit your cooler, and I don't think there's an adapter for it.What about an ryzen 7 3800X?
