the title says it all. Which is better for a long term period build?
Im just wondering because by building an i5-6600K rig you`ll need a good hsf and a good
z170 motherboard while building a i7-6700 you`ll only need a good b150/h170 mobo because its locked. The price are almost the same and the performance of an overclocked i5-6600k is almost the same to an i7-6700 stock. What are your thoughts? I`ll build a new rig for myself. Gaming is the main priority and some school works. Thanks.

So I take it you have around 8500 PHP, then your best choice would be the Gigabyte GA-Z170XP-SLI, supports up to 3466mhz (even though its too much) ram, supports SLI, has an m2 for ssd, has everything. Best for the price range and unfortunately cheaper models come with ddr3 which is not an option.
If gaming is your main priority an i5 would cover all your needs, gaming and school. The advantage of the i7 in hyperthreading. Hyperthreading in games is usually unused. If however you plan to use the computer for something like video editing/rendering then the extra threads give you a performance boost of up to 30% in those specific loads.

For a gaming system the i5 is still the sweetspot.

If you went with the i7 you shouldn't bother the with the b150 chipset. It has way less features and connectivity, with the price gains being moderate at best.

i5-6600k is OC-able but has only 4 threads
i7-6700 is not OC-able but has 8 threads
i7-6700k is OCable, has 8 threads but you have to pay more.

The vast majority (above 90%) of games prefer faster threads than more threads, this is where OC helps, especially after a few years.
If you are limited by budget and can only get either i5-6600k or i7 6700, if you mainly game, the i5-6600k is the better choice for you.

So an i5-6600k is a better choice than a locked i7-6700? im just wondering because the cost of the entire build is almost the same. Though the i5-6600k build one cost a little bit higher. What Z170 would you recommend? (bang for buck mobo) and what aftermarket cooler would you recommend? and lastly isn`t multi-threading will help the i7-6700 to survive for the next 5 years than a i5-6600k? sorry for my bad english hahaha :) and for asking too many questions. Look at these benchmarks between the two.i5-6600k vs i7-6700

Actually even with 6600k and z170 motherboard, it would still be cheaper than a locked 6700. Also as it comes to multithreading, not that widely utilized, if it was that much of a performance boost everyone would be buying the Xeons which cost as much as i5s. As for motherboard, way too many on the market, way too make. Features, way too similar, just get a 120-140$ one which supports SLI/XFire for the future and that's about it. You don't need to go for 200-250$ board in 99% of the cases.

It is now possible to overclock on non-K Skylakes with Z170 motherboards. Check HERE for more info.

So you could even consider getting an i5-6600 which is slightly cheaper than the K version.

Check out this Digital Foundry benchmark on Youtube.

so i5-6600k is the right choice between those two? if yes, can you recommend a budget Z170 board? for about $180?
z170 mobo`s here in my country are overpriced. ($1= PHP 47)
here is the store where i would buy my components.

How about z170-hd3p it supports ddr4. Is it a good choice too? since im not planning to SLI in the future.
