Hello everyone!!!!
I wanted to ask the community about a current issue I have had with the i5-6600k, I have a Strix micro B250I gaming motherboard and the EVGA 1060 6GB GPU. I can not get the evga GPU to post and have the display to come on, if I switch the HDMI cable to the motherboards HDMI output it works fine.
Here is everything I have done to troubleshot the issue.
Replaced HDMI cable
Replaced Ram
Replaced PSU
Checked CPU
Changed Bios to display GPU and default display
updated Bios to MOBO
RMA the EVGA GPU

and still have the same issue.....

I started an RMA on the motherboard and though I would try one more thing before I sent the Mobo back and that was to change out the CPU for another processor so I put in the i5=6700k and the system and gpu are working perfect and have had 10 shut downs and restarts and the system is working fine....

so I sent back a brand new GPU for a refurb which is a bummer !

what could be the issue with the 6600K I am really curious about this cpu and why it would not work with the graphics card display output!

if anyone has any insight to this please chime in !
thanks
jeff

Did you inspect the CPU's socket for any bent/broken pins?

It's possible that the BIOS has acted up in some manner or form. I've had some folks return that board out of the box when it wouldn't cooperate with some hardware, let alone Skylake processors.

You could try and reflash the BIOS. Speaking of which, which BIOS revision are you on?

You forgot to state your full system's specs, this is a troubleshooting thread after all. List them like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

I did inspect the cpu pins very carefully and they are perfect. the full specs are
i5-6700k
Strix B250I gaming motherboard
evga gtx 1060 6GB
TeamGroup Delta rgb memory 2 x 4gb 2666
Corsair SF450 PSU
Cryorig C1 cpu cooler
250GB SSD

motherboard bios version is the latest 1205 I flashed it to this!
if there was a bios issue then wouldn't the issue still persist with the 6700k from the 6600k? the system is working perfect since I changed out the processor..

I did reseat the6600k when it was in there to make sure it was correct and it was and issue still persisted until I swapped the cpu.
thanks
