I've been running an i5-7500 for about 4 years now. I do a full wipe of my system every 8 months to a year. I've been getting more into steaming but it doesn't look very good due to the fact that my Cpu is at 95 to 100% utilization as far as I can see. What should I be looking at for an upgrade?

Rest of my system
500watt Bronze psu
16gb 1066mhz clock
GTX 1060
Mother board GIGABYTE H270M-DS3H-CF

Solution
For the meantime, try to set it to GPU encode. This should help. The i7 7700k would be a good upgrade if you can find one for cheap, however finding them for a good price is very difficult.

I would recommend waiting for new Ryzen 5000 CPUs to launch very shortly, however the setup above is an example of what you could do to get very good streaming performance for not a lot of money. If you already have a nice cooler for your i5 7500, you can omit the deepcool cooler. I would not recommend running the 10400f on the stock cooler, though it can work.

The Ryzen 5 3600 is usually my go to, however unfortunately it is like 30% more expensive than the i5 10400f which is similar in performance.

Solution
If you are going Ryzen faster ram would be a good idea, though your current ram and an fclock overclock of the CPU would probably be somewhat close to the performance of faster ram, as long as your current kit is dual channel.

If getting the intel setup above, keep the ram as long as it is dual channel. B460 is locked to 2666mhz anyhow.
