Hello, so i just built my 1st pc and i keep getting these weird readings from the cpu, in both CAM software and dual intelligent processor 5 i get around 800 mhz reading in idle, then it suddenly jumps to 4300k mhz, stays like the for like 4 seconds then drops and then spikes again, i am not ocing in any way and didn't play around in the bios, is this normal?
Thanks in advance

okay, it's a power saving feature from Intel. It allows the CPU to downclock to lower speeds to save power usage.

You can change in the bios. To enter the bios you need to restart the PC and press F8 or delete or whatever button to access the bios. Then you can turn intel speedstep of (disabled) there will be an option there you may have to look for it though.

Before you do that, you could try changing the windows power plan to high performance, and then just check that it's maintaining it's full speed.

But just for clarity, speed-step is useful. When system needs to be at full speed for a demanding application it just goes to full speed. When it's not a demanding task it down-clocks. It just saves power when its not at full speed.

Ok i just feared it was an error or something cus jumping from 800 mhz to 4300 mhz, though i am not running anything extra so that was my concern, but if it's a feature i guess it's ok, thanks alot for your time :)

Yea, my fx 6300 has a similar preformance, it idles at 1.4 GHZ and when i open a game or anything that is cpu based it will jump to its 3.8 GHZ and will stay between 3.6 and 3.8, i would assume intel would use a similar software/hardware to also extend the processors life, if it's constantly running at max speed and could degrade the processor faster. So as long as its not staying at 800 mhz while your attempting to game or use a cpu based application then you should be fine
