i5 7600k temperatures

So i bought an i5 7600k running at 3.80ghz and im cooling it with a Maelstrom 240t, i installed it with the thermal paste that came per defect, and its running at 89° on GTA V, i think this temperatures are high. Am i wrong? should i apply some thermal paste?

Way to hot. I installed an i5 7600k into my small HTPC/gaming rig last weekend. Even running full load on ASUS Realbench to stress the system, temps never got over 70C. This is with a small aircooler, Cryorig C7 made to fit into small spaces. Did your cooler come with a protective cover on the base that you may have forgotten to remove prior to installation? Also, could very well be a bad mounting of the cooler. Something needs checked out with the cooler I'd suspect.

Took the cooler out and applied some new termal paste, then screwed it properly, now it wont go over 60°
