Is the i5-8400 powerful enough to stream and game at the same time? or if not what would you guys suggest for me to buy at the same price range? thanks in advance

Solution
should I get a core i5 8400 with RTX2060 or core i7 8700 with GTX 1060 (streaming and gaming) (RAM is 16GB) will be playing apex legends and fortnite mostly, and would like to stream at 1080p 60FPS..
I7 8700k is an good choice but as the other member suggested ryzen 2600 oc will almost give the same result.
And i7 8700k cost more.
Ryzen 2600+ryzen 2600=i7 8700k(money wise)
Or even better go for 2700 or an 2700k.
If you already have mobo for intel and dont wanna buy ryzen i7 8700k to go.

I7 8700 is more powerful than i5 8400.

For streaming and gaming a Ryzen 2600 or 2700 are better choices. Do you already have a motherboard and RAM?

I haven't bought anything yet, but will be buying next week. I chose the tomahawk z390 motherboard, RTX2060 and the core i5 8400. so basically for gaming only, the core i5 is better, but for both streaming and gaming, ryzen is better?

I know the i7 8700 is more powerful but I just wanted to ask what was better. 8700 with gtx 1060 or 8400 with rtx2060 ... or do you think ryzen2700x with GTX1060 is the best choice.. if so, please recommend a motherboard :)

I think going with ryzen 2700x and rtx 2060 will be an best combo and will perform significantly better then the other ones.
Ill recommend buying the asus rog strix mobo.
https://www.amazon.com/ROG-Strix-X4...sus+strix+am4&qid=1553613912&s=gateway&sr=8-1

Or if you want something cheaper go for asus b450
https://www.amazon.com/ROG-Strix-B4...sus+strix+am4&qid=1553614011&s=gateway&sr=8-2

But dont go for any b350 or x370 boards as they r old.
I am using the asus rog strix mobo(1st one) with ryzen 1700x along with gtx 1070 and its runing perfect . :)

CPU is irrelevant to streaming because no matter how many threads you have if the game uses all of them even in a small amount it will completely mess with cpu streaming and you will go through settings hell to try and fix it.
Shadowplay can stream at any quality, FPS and resolution that you want to and your upload allows without even affecting your CPU at all.
So just go with the CPU that will play your games the best and use the GPU to do the streaming.

The ryzens are not as good at streaming as people think they are because that uses all the cores ,not to even mention the game, and as soon as you use both ccxs of a ryzen system you do get a pretty big drop in performance.
