Hey Guys,

I have zero and I mean zero OC experience. I've searched up some tutorials but every motherboard has different settings and I have no idea what to do. If anyone can help me OC my i5 8600k to 5.1 or 5GHz it would be much appreciated especially with the terms specific to this motherboard.

Cheers

Hi kenebay2399,

First, overclocking, not done properly, can damage even kill a component. Be aware of that.
Second, we can't give you specific value to achieve what you want, every system is different which means different voltage-frequency-temperature.

The rule of the overclocking is the following :
First let everything on auto,
then stress test and note your CPU voltage and CPU frequency and put them manually in bios.
Then you have two path to follow :

1°/ Better performance :
Bump your multiplier until it's not stable then bump voltage (increments of 0.025-0.05V)
Once you've reach the frequency you want, lower the voltage as much as you can as long as it remains stable.

2°/ Better thermals
Keep stock frequency and reduce voltage as much as you can until it's not stable.

FYI, i have the 8600k on the MSI SLI Plus so we have the same bios (easier to help)
