i5 8600k or i7 8700k for ultrawide 1440p gaming

Hi wondering if it'll be alright to have a i5 8600k with a gtx 1080ti for gaming on ultrawide 1440p. And would there be noticeable difference between the two at this resolution?

The difference between them is small for gaming, just look up the reviews of the 8700k as they usually include the 8600k. I assume this is a high Hz monitor?

The i5 will still perform neatly on 1440p Ultrawide, but the i7 will definitely outperform the i5 in terms of gaming on that resolution.

Yeah its a high hz monitor. Yeah so of i7 will out preform it but the i5 should be alright for now just on a budget. So i5 should suffice for a bit?

It is actually not as simple as that.
Assuming your GPU is already strong enough e.g. 1080Ti, some games do benefit from having I7 8700k while most are already happy with I5 8600k.
To make things simple, perhaps you can simply list the game you play or wanna play.
It is also even better if you can tell us the type of your monitor or at least the refresh rate of your 3440x1440 monitor.

The difference between the CPU's gets smaller as resolution goes up.

Is a Crossover 34u100 100hz (144hz for fhd) the games i play vary as in i play total warhammer, black desert online, pub g, and waiting for some newer mmorpgs this year.

And yes this screen doesn't have G sync but has free sync which doesn't work with nVidia. I know that but this screen is alot cheaper. Was sold on ultrawide curved monitor

You have the screen and graphic card already? or no?
Running nVidia card on FreeSync monitor, you will not be able to use both GSync and FreeSync.

as for the games you currently play, I7 8700k would be useful but not much especially due to the extra price.
Going I7 8700k will make the system more future-proof but with certain gambling factor. For pure gaming rig and the games you play, I5 8600k has the better price/performance value.
