Question i5 9400f and Coolermaster H410R

So i recently bought the i5 9400f and noticed that the stock cooler wasn't too good. I bought the Coolermaster H410R and set it up feeling like this would greatly reduce my temps. But, this cooler really has not performed upto expectations. Playing BFV and idling in the main menu can get temps upto 52 and full load during gameplay can get it between 75-82. Can anyone tell me whats wrong? Airflow is great with once intake at the front and outlet at the back and i only used a pea-sized amount of thermal paste (CM Mastergel). I've reapplied 2 times and im at my wits end.

What were the temps of the old cooler?

I'd reckon you didn't go big enough on the cooler - is still too small for the cpu's boost clocks.
BF V runs AVX too, so that doesn't help... but it's not like the temperatures you're seeing now are necessarily bad either.

It was the thermal paste, it seems i got a bad batch, all issues gone after using some thermal paste from Corsair

Which Mastergel, because some require you to spread it across the entire IHS - little in the middle not effective.
