Hi
I ran prime 95 on this new CPU I have. It's cooled with a cooler master masterliquid ml240r. The temp went up as far as 100c and I don't know if this is normal or not.
If anyone has same CPU and cooler setup or any ideas if this is ok, please let me know.

Update: does the pump need extra power or can I just run it from the CPU headers on the gigabyte z390.aorus ultra mono I have. To get all the rgb in sync, I left out the cooler master control box which I know has a socket for sata power.

Thanks

Pretty much just that. The pump should be at 100% all the time. And I would set a Fan RPM / C temperature ramp to control the heat based on the CPU Temperature. That way the fans...
Ok so i found the problem and its me. removed the pump to redo the paste and lo and behold, i never took the bloody plastic of the copper plate. Officially and idiot. Put some Noctua paste on, ran Prime95 for 25 mins and temp didnt go above 51C.

In the future if you see a high CPU temperature, remounting the CPU cooler with fresh thermal paste should be one of the first things to do. There are those who do that on an annual basis, but I wouldn't go that far. I'm more of a if it isn't broken don't fix it kind of guy.

Don't beat yourself up about it ... you're certainly not the first person to miss that, and you won't be the last. It happens to the best of us. What's important is that you found the problem and fixed it ... lesson learned.

Enjoy your rig!

Thanks again for the help. Is there anything else I need to be aware of? Like still keeping the pump going at full speed and fans at variable speed?
