[SOLVED] I5-9600k at 90C while at idle?!

So I just bought the i5-9600k along with a Aorus Z390 MOBO. I connected everything normally, the PC booted up without any issue but then I get to the BIOS and I see this:

90c at idle. I freaked out and turned off the pc and started cleaning the paste. Whilst cleaning, the pump was very hot (obviously) and I also noticed scarring on the pump (as shown in the 2nd image)

Could my pump be faulty? I had no issues prior to this new CPU install with my i5-6500.

gut feel, either poor contact pressure (hot pump suggests not), or pump isn't pumping liquid, either an airlock or the pump isn't plugged in or not running.

Yes you are right. I forgot to plug in the SATA connector for the pump. It’s all good now running at 35C idle.

there isn't much that can cause 90C, glad it's sorted.
