Hi,

I game at 1440p which may be my main downfall but I need to ask for some honest advice about the rig I built.

My rig is as follows:

Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 18363) (18362.19h1_release.190318-1202
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9600K CPU @ 3.70GHz, 3696 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 6 Logical Processor(s)
Memory: 16384MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 12
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070
Current Mode: 2560 x 1440 (32 bit) (144Hz)
BaseBoard Product Z390-A PRO (MS-7B98)

Did I make a mistake with the CPU I bought and is it likely bottlenecking my GPU? If so I am guessing my options is to go back down to 1080p or get a new CPU? Would anyone have suggestions for a CPU - is it because I chose a non hyper threading model I am having issues?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

the 9600K's current 6c/6t architecture seemed adequate in the gaming reviews/comparison I've seen (as referenced with mainly average and minimum FPS), as long as one was not also a simultaneous heavy streamer/surfer/chatter doing video encoding and/or virus scans while gaming, etc...

Well, if you upgraded your PC this year, then deciding for 9600K sure was a mistake. I "upgraded" to this CPU in early this spring (from 6600) and I used it only for a month -then I switched to AMD.
As I'm not much of a gamer... 9600K might be "good enough" for gaming, but that's pretty much all. Ok, let me say it loud: as for home working PC, 9600K is a crap and should never been sold (at that price).
