The i5 is supported by a completely different architecture than the Core 2. It would require a complete refit of RAM and Motherboard. In short the answer is no I am afraid.

I do not think it was a waste of money.I guess I am a cultist also now.Maybe eventually I will get a SSD we will see.The i5 processor is a faster one than the core 2 duo even with my ISP connection I notice it loading pages.
