I am looking to upgrading my cpu to an i5 from an amd 860k. My memory is ddr3-1866 at 1.5 volts. PC part picker and fourms says this is not good because the cpu recommends 1.35v. I am okay with a little bit of ram bottlenecking but will it damage my cpu or signficantly decrease preformance? Can i downclock my ram to use less voltage?

Thanks!

Solution
You may never tweak your curent ram to work fine at 1.35V, even you do so the performance will be horrible, go for a pair of ddr4 2800mhz or 3000mhz
